Staying at the Kimpton Alma Hotel in Downtown San Diego (Dog Friendly)
Scott and I booked a last minute trip to downtown San Diego to celebrate our five year anniversary, and we were extra excited because we could bring Lucky with us. The Kimpton Alma San Diego is a pet friendly hotel that basically has little to no restrictions for dog stays. We got in about 1 PM on a Thursday, and were able to check in early and receive an upgrade to a larger room that included a balcony. we have previously stayed at the Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs, and just loved how easy and stress-free it was to be able to stay there with Lucky. It was only a 1-day stay so not too much to worry about anyways, but I was very excited to stay at another Kimpton hotel.
During check in, we received a welcome drink, and were informed that there was also a wine reception later in the lobby. We headed up to the room and quickly got settled in with Lucky so that Scott and I could head down to the wine reception before dinner. We were planning on taking Lucky down to the wine reception since he is allowed to be down there, but we got tight on time. It was nice that Scott received message from the front desk in case we needed anything, we were told that a dog bed and bowls would be delivered for Lucky, but it never arrived. We made due since he would just sleep with us in the bed anyways and I had containers that I could repurpose for his food/water bowls.
We were so grateful for the room upgraded because then Lucky could have a bit more room to roam around, although I think he likes to spend most of his time hiding under the bathroom sink vanity. Our upgraded room came with a balcony which was nice to have as an option to enjoy the outside air (even though it was fairly windy). The overall hotel design and ambiance is just my vibe, it has a California cool aesthetic with touches of Mexican heritage and culture.
