Mix and Match Groomsmen Suits with The Black Tux Suit Rental

When choosing where to have Scott and the groomsmen go to for suit rentals, we went with The Black Tux. The reason why we chose the Black Tux is because Scott had used the service a couple times for other weddings and it was seamless and easy to try on, order, receive, wear and ship back. I was immediately drawn to the ease of use, but knew that I would like the groomsmen to wear different colors to mimic the mismatched look of my bridal party.

SELECTING SUIT STYLES & COLORS

Selecting the suit style was straight forward as I was choosing suit styles based off of my color palette. To organize who would be wearing which color/style, I looked at the color of the bridesmaid dress paired with each groomsmen and made sure not to match the colors exactly as I wanted a slight difference. For example, if the bridesmaid was wearing charcoal grey, I had the groomsmen wear a lighter shade of grey. Any of the mauve bridesmaid dresses paired well with the grey suits, and all together everyone’s dress and suit colors really came together and complemented each other. I finished the groomsmen look with a navy floral tie that coordinated with the groom’s navy suit (and in turn the groom wore a pink floral tie to incorporate the pink tones of the wedding hues).

SUIT FITTINGS / TRY-ONS

I’m surprisingly pleased at how everything turned out, I really only had the model photos of the suits to put together in a side by side collage and get a visual of how everyone would look because I wouldn’t really know how it all turned out until the day of the wedding. Most of the guys were able to do a try-on at participating showroom locations within Nordstrom (book an appointment beforehand). This is great because they each could confirm sizing and see how colors looked worn (but the showroom is limited on styles available). If someone is unable to get into a showroom, free at-home try ons are available. We unfortunately could not take advantage of receiving a $200 credit towards a groom’s suit because we did not rent 6 qualifying groomsmen suits (minimum value of $175 each), since not every suit is eligible for that promotion.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH THE BLACK TUX

The website is user friendly, you can build looks and there is a great selection to choose from. Overall I was pleased with how the suits turned out on everyone. I was disappointed that I originally could not have 3 of the groomsmen in the rose shawl suit due to limited availability. Some of the groomsmen had to select different event dates so that they could get their hands on specific suits even though they had been notified that those suits were available. The back and forth for some guys as to which suit was available or not made the process not as simple as it should be. I highly recommend The Black Tux if you you want to go the rental route, if the groomsmen will all be wearing the same design and if there will be 6 or more groomsmen to dress to take advantage of the grooms credit (although, the service is still great if you have a grooms party less than 6 people).

What The Black Tux Styles did we Choose?

I received quite a few inquiries regarding suits since some of mine and my photographers’ social media posts popped up on #TheBlackTux. For the carousel of groomsmen images below, here are their suit styles for reference (from left to right): Rose Shawl Tuxedo, Light Grey Suit, Charcoal Suit, Grey Suit, Rose Shawl Tuxedo and Charcoal Suit.
