Transitional Seasonal Styling with a Leather Jacket from The Jacket Maker
It’s still very warm (and getting hotter in the coming weeks) in Southern California, but with Autumn around the corner, I’ve been wanting to bring leather back into my everyday styling. Leather jackets are an easy way for me to transition from Summer to Fall with wardrobe styling. In the late afternoons to evenings, the temps start to drop and a leather jacket is perfect for throwing on to stay warm.
I was so excited when The Jacket Maker reached out to send a leather jacket to me, as they have such a variety of premium-quality, thoughtfully designed Women’s leather jackets to choose from. My go-to leather jacket fits are usually a moto design, bomber style or a cropped, boxy jacket; so I was eyeing some of the trench styles, but realistically I just didn’t think I’d get much wear out of a trench style unless I was traveling somewhere with a much cooler climate soon. I selected the Elixir Collarless Leather Jacket in the color Beige, because if you know me, you know I’ve been on a tan, beige and taupe kick the past couple of years. The neutral color would also allow for the seamless transitioning of my wardrobe from summer to fall since beige complements a summer white/lighter toned wardrobe as well as many autumn hues like browns and deep oranges and reds.
UNBOXING
The leather jacket was very well packaged, it came in a protective layer and was wrapped in tissue paper. The jacket also came with it’s own garment bag which is a nice touch! Other items include care instructions and a car freshener. When I lifted the jacket out of the box, I could feel how nice the leather was, and I could also immediately see the impeccable stitching and finishing on the collar, cuff and hem. No detail or quality was spared with the jacket lining as well - it has a quilted pattern, and there’s even interior pockets.
STYLING
I picked the Elixir jacket because I didn’t have a leather jacket in this silhouette or design yet. It looked like I could easily style this jacket casually with a basic t-shirt and jeans, and also be able to throw on over a dress or something a bit more formal. The styling options seemed limitless, and therefore, the jacket would be a versatile additional to my closet. For styling this particular look, I was going for a streetwear vibe with a “racer” style shirt underneath, a mini skirt and chunky boots. The Elixir leather jacket is easy to layer on top of this outfit, and pulls the whole look together for a sporty, edgy feel. How would you style this jacket?
