Bowers Museum Global Threads: India's Textile Revolution Exhibition

Before the modern fashion industry existed, there was the incredible innovation of Indian chintz. With vivid colors and exuberant designs that once seemed like magic, these painted and printed cottons didn’t just decorate rooms—they changed human history.

The Bowers Museum’s newest exhibition, Global Threads: India’s Textile Revolution, showcases a millennium of innovation. Featuring masterpieces from the Royal Ontario Museum, this collection explores how Indian artisans perfected the art of painted and printed cotton to honor gods, beautify palaces, and fashion the body.
