A Very Merry English Christmas 2025 - Dinner and Traditions
This is my first official English Christmas - I’m quite surprised by this since I’ve been going almost every year since 2016. I’ve been around during the holidays in November and late December, but not actually on Christmas Day I don’t think - at least we didn’t spend it with family doing a traditional English Christmas Dinner - so yay for firsts!
We headed over to Scott’s family friends home, the Byfords and right as we walked through the door you were met with the most delicious wafting smells of a Christmas roast. The table was set with crackers, the cocktails were poured, and once the Christmas roast was cut, we all sat down to enjoy along with sides of vegetables, bacon wrapped sausages and a yorkshire puddings.
We made sure to pop our crackers so we could wear our crowns and see what jokes we got (they are always very bad). We also received little gifts like games and a lip balm. The dinner ended with a Christmas pudding and apple crumble. I have been fascinated by Christmas puddings, because I’ve seen them everywhere are holiday decor and gifts, so I was very keen to try one. Not going to lie, I’m not a fan of this Christmas pudding (even if it’s set on fire) - it just tasted bitter to me even though I had some heavy cream on top. The apple crumble on the other hand was delightful. Either way, so happy to be able to enjoy a meal with family and friends! We opened presents, then played game through midnight! What are some of your Christmas or holiday traditions?
If you celebrate Christmas, then I hope you had a very merry Christmas!
