Thrift Shopping Finds at Guild Care's Greenhouse Charity Shop - Worthing, UK

I received a tip to check out Guild Care charity shops for my next England visit, so this time around I made sure to make it in to a handful charity shops, one being this superstore called The Greenhouse in East Worthing. We went on a rainy day, so it was a perfect day for mucking about and perusing in the charity shop (especially one of this size). This superstore covering 20,000 square feet, is a great spot for anyone looking for secondhand treasures. It features a wide range of items, from well-organized secondhand clothing to home goods. It's not just a store; it’s a lively community hub where you can find unique English decor, vintage teapots, and all sorts of other interesting pieces.

During my trip, I visited a handful of Guild Care locations aside from the Greenhouse superstore, so here are all of my charity shop, thrift finds! Overall I spent £26 ~ $33 😱 and yes I managed to pack everything including the vanity mirror! 😆

Moon Tarot Scarf £3.50 ~ $4
Guide Map Books £1 each ~$1.29
Harrods Toy Car £2 ~ $2.58
Costa Coffee Cups £1 each ~$1.29
Vanity Mirror £5 ~$6.44
French Beaded Silk Dress (from 90s?) £9 ~$12

Yes you read that right, the insanely gorge beaded dress find came out to only $12, honestly a STEAL. Easy $150+ in a vintage/antique store here. The two other Guild Care locations that I purchased from were both located on the Strand:
The Strand Charity Shop 1

The Strand Charity Shops, Strand Parade, The Strand, Worthing, BN12 6DJ. 01903 524090

The Strand Charity Shop 2

The Strand Charity Shops, Strand Parade, The Strand, Worthing, BN12 6DJ. 01903 524090

See all locations here.

Shopping at The Greenhouse isn’t just about the thrill of the find — it’s also for a good cause. The proceeds from sales go directly toward supporting over 30 community programs run by Guild Care. These programs help the elderly, people with disabilities, and those living with dementia, along with their caregivers. This commitment to community support emphasizes the importance of sustainability as well; buying secondhand reduces waste and encourages a healthier lifestyle.

Guild Care serves a vital role in the local economy and community. Their shops promote sustainable shopping habits by extending the life of valuable goods and generating essential funding for community services. When you shop at The Greenhouse, you’re not only supporting this mission but also enjoying the excitement of discovering hidden gems. Every purchase you make is a step toward a more sustainable future, strengthening community ties and improving the lives of those in need.

Of course I wanted to take home all the English home decor, teapots and things I found, but had to remember most are fragile and I would probably have to check my bag. Scott should know better than to go with me to a secondhand store as I will literally scour every shelf, nook and cranny (but he was my ride and knew it would make me happy), and I didn’t spend and exorbitant amount of time there. Speaking of ride, parking can be tight - we got lucky and were able to snag a street spot.
