Dehydrating Citrus Fruit - Orange and Lemon Dehydrated Wheels with an Air Fryer
I’ve been wanting to use the dehydrator function on my air fryer for awhile, got the idea to try it after my boss gifted me aperol spritz ingredients that included dehydrated orange slices to garnish my cocktails with. In the end, I made a garland by tying the lemon + orange slices onto twine.
You can dehydrate citrus in your oven by baking at 170ºF for 4-6 hours (some sites says as long as 15 hours?! So I’m not sure), turning the slices over every 2 hours, or until fully dried out.
After slicing the lemon & oranges into 1/4 rounds (use a mandolin if you have one for more consistent cuts), I placed the slices into my air fryer and used the dehydrator setting at 180ºF for 90 minutes flipping every 30 minutes. Dependent on the actual thickness of the slices )because I know I didn’t get consistent 1/4 in cuts), you may have to adjust temps and times on your air fryer. I also want to try making candied orange slices and I think I can’t dry them out as much if I want to do so. Overall, if you’ll want to dehydrate until there is no moisture left in the slices. Have you tried this before?! 🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋🍊🍋
