Japan Rail Pass Increasing Upwards of 70% - Get Your Voucher Now

Traveling to Japan and looking to get a Japan Rail Pass? Well there’s a staggering increase for the JR Pass (Japan Rail Pass), starting October 1, 2023! Get your vouchers before that date to lock in the current price. Even if you’re traveling after that date, you can purchase a voucher now at the current rate (~$209, for the 7 day, second class pass) and exchange the voucher at a JR ticket/exchange office in Japan within 3 months.

I recommend purchasing 3-4 weeks prior to your departure date if possible. I bought mine from Japan Experience and the vouchers arrived in 2 business days via FedEx (account for transit delays). I’ve also purchased theme park tickets from Klook, and noticed they have the JR Pass (and update as of 9/27/23, the pass is discounted)!

I brought the vouchers with me to Japan, got my passport “stamped” with a temporary visitor sticker and redeemed for the physical pass. The passes used me be actual passport sized booklets, they are now the size of the train tickets, so don’t lose them! If you lose them and were planning to take the Shinkansen you are SOL and won’t be able to redeem another.
