Tubing at Alpine Slide in Big Bear

Scott and I took advantage of a Tuesday off by visiting Big Bear. I hadn't gone proper inner tubing before (just plastic sleigh riding down some roadside hills), so he took me to Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain (at Big Bear Lake) for tubing! We arrived around 11:30am and it was packed getting around the parking lot and trying to find a spot. Then the line to get to the ticket window wrapped all around the building and took us about 30-45minutes (I lost track of time while waiting in line), to get to the ticket window.

Thankfully we received a tip from a guest in line that we needed CASH, others were not so lucky and made it all the way to the ticket window, only to find out they needed to leave the line to use the ATM to grab cash, then re-enter the line. I continued to stay in line as Scott went to the ATM to withdraw cash. All of the important signs were posted too close to the ticket window so many guidelines were not made aware to guests until it was too late.

Ticket admission was $30/each, steep in my opinion, but definitely a fun time. We stood in yet another line to have our 'Snow Play' ticket attached to a zipper of our garments, and then directed to the 'tubing' line.

Unfortunately with the influx of guests exiting the tube slides, and no signs posted or very good directions; many people including us were confused as to the location of the inner tubes. We thought we had to wait at the tube slide exit and grab a tube from a guest abandoning their tube, so we were scrounging for one and we finally snatched a tube up. While waiting in line to get on the conveyor belt (Magic Carpet) to get to the top of the hill, we came to realize that there was a huge pile of tubes off to the side of the line. Therefore, just get in line and you'll be able to grab a tube while in line.

Scott and I got about 5 rides down the hill and were done with it. It was a blast and I'm glad we got to do it. If you plan to go, just try to plan to go at opening or do the evening run, the crowds are ridiculous!
