Opening Day of Bing Crosby Season, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club

And they're off! It was an exciting day at the horse race tracks in Del Mar last Friday as visitors celebrated the Inaugural Bing Crosby Season in which Old Hollywood style meets cool Southern Californian vibes for the next four weeks filled with top notch Thoroughbred racing, events, and entertainment. Aside from the edge of your seat suspense from the horse races, I loved seeing vintage-inspired as well as more modern day horse race fashions around the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.  Big Crosby himself founded the DMTC with celebrity pals in the 1930s, and the glamour and glitz from that time was brought to life. Aside from the races, there was live music and merriment around the courtyard areas and even costume contests. I knew that I wanted to wear a birdcage veil, so who better to go with than a What a Betty piece. I met with Betty the day before the event with a ton of dresses in hand, and she pulled out so many beautiful birdcage veils to pair with the dresses; we fell in love with how the Turquoise Something Blue Birdcage Veil paired amazingly well with a stunning Velvet & Satin with Filigree Crystal Peony and a slightly smaller flower clip similar to this style; looked with a one shoulder turquoise vintage dress. I curled my hair and pinned it to one side, painted on red lips, then finished my look with a vintage fur stole, court shoes, and a little clutch. I attended the event with blogger Joann and photographer Talia; we had a blast!
