Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica (Nhà thờ Đức Bà Sài Gòn) & Central Post Office (Bưu điện)

If you follow me on FFF's social media outlets, you may have seen that I visited Vietnam and Cambodia the last two weeks. I went on the trip to attend my aunt and uncle's Vietnamese wedding as well as get more connected with my heritage and also explore the country of Cambodia. Once I touched down at Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), I wanted to hit the ground running and explore the city. But first, I had to settle into my room at the bride's family's home. Afterwards, I went with my cousin on a motorbike and grabbed Vietnamese iced coffee to-go and we found a nice place to park so that we could explore the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica and Central Post Office; both were completed between the 1880-1890 by French colonists. The cathedral was constructed with un-coated red bricks imported from Marseilles which still has it's red color today; and the post office was built by the famous French architect Gustave Eiffel and is still a working post office! Both attractions are located directly across from each other, are go-to tourist stops in city tours, and popular wedding photo locations (I saw 3-4 couples taking their photos at both places). Explore on your own or a curated tour; either way it will be a great experience to take in the history and magestic interior and exterior of the Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica and Central Post Office. I wish I had gotten to go inside the cathedral but it was not open when I was there, they do still hold weekend English and Vietnamese masses there. The Diamond Plaza is near by for your shopping, eating, and entertainment pleasure, there's also a bowling alley on the top floor.
