Ashoka Tandoori Restaurant in Brighton and Hove, England UK

When we visit Scott’s family in England, we always and I mean ALWAYS have to do a dinner night at Ashoka Tandoori Restaurant in Brighton and Hove. This has got to be my 5th or 6th time dining here and I’m so happy to see that they have survived COVID-19 times, and remains a community staple. This restaurant is where I was first introduced to papadum (big, thin and crispy snack) with the chutneys, pickles and other dipping condiments. Not all Indian restaurants serve this, so I absolutely loved it because I like crispy snacks and dipping sauce options. It’s nice that you can eat it, but not fill up your stomach like you would with bread.

We also ordered onion bhaji, and for our mains: chicken tikka masala, lamb dupiaza, lamb korma and chicken dupiaza with mushroom rice and garlic naan. Their naan bread here is INSANE -it’s so dough-y, but perfect crisped on the top. Puddings (dessert) were involved of course. View the menu here, and book a table here.
