Visiting Chichester, a Cathedral City and County Town in West Sussex - England UK
I just had the loveliest time (although not that long) during my first-time visit to Chichester! It’s not a big city, but it’s packed with a lot of charm and history. It was founded by the Romans, and you can still see parts of the old city walls. It's a market town, and you can still feel that market vibe today! Because when we visited, there was even the farmer’s market going on. The Chichester Farmer’s Market which occurs every 1st and 3rd Friday of every month in the city centre, offers fresh, local produce and artisanal goods, directly supporting regional farmers and producers. It's a vibrant community hub where you can experience the true flavors of Chichester while contributing to a sustainable local economy.
While exploring the rest of the city centre and surrounding areas, I was pulled in by the colorful window displays, hanging ribbons and pennant flags and bustling cafes, pubs & eateries. Chichester Cathedral (which spans back nearly 950 years) was just a few steps away from the city centre - it’s free to enter and check out, but on a donation basis with a recommendation of £5.00 per visitor. I also got to check out a few charity shops and vintage stores which was super fun! I would definitely visit again, as there’s a handful of other landmarks and points of interest to visit whilst in Chichester such as:
