Gucci Marmont Belt Hardware Cleaning with Autosol Metal Polish
I was disappointed to see that the hardware on my Gucci Marmont belt buckle had started to oxidize (I would say less than a year from owning, and I keep the belt stored in the dust bag in a dry/cool place). So I looked to google to see if anyone else had experienced the same thing and what could be done about it. Thankfully, I stumbled upon a few blogs and youtube videos on using Autosol metal polish to clean up oxidation. Polish and clean at your own discretion, I am sharing my own personal experiences with using this cream polish and am not responsible for anything that may arise from your own use of the metal polish or following the cleaning instructions in this video.
This DIY hardware cleaning is super easy and took me a little under 5 minutes to complete for this belt. Here are the things you need:
Autosol Metal Polish (you could try another metal polish that has good reviewed, is tried and true, but I’m naming this specific brand of metal polish since it is what I used and had researched other people use on their designer goods hardware)
Q-Tips (quantity will depend on how many spots you need to get oxidation marks out)
Microfiber cloth
CLEANING & POLISHING YOUR GUCCI OR OTHER DESIGNER HARDWARE
With a clean dry microfiber cloth, wipe off any dust from the hardware
Apply a minimal amount of cream polish to the tip of the Q-tip, and start to work the polish into the surface of the hardware where the oxidation marks are (you’ll see them start to disappear in a few seconds)
Keep doing this for any darkened areas, adjust pressure as needed and apply all over the hardware as a finishing polish
Remove and wipe off excess polish with a clean microfiber cloth
Honestly, what a difference the metal polish made, I’m really happy at the results and how simple and quick the whole process was.
