Creating Sriracha and Heinz Baked Beans HTV Iron On Shirts for Halloween
Happy Halloween! I had a Halloween party I needed to dress up for, but was really fresh out of ideas for costumes. So I decided to make condiment t-shirts for Scott and I so we could rewear the shirts later. For myself, I made a Sriracha chili sauce tee and for Scott, I made a custom “Hammonds” instead of “Heinz” baked beans tee. I know baked beans is not a condiment, but is made by a company that sells condiments? haha!
To create the look, I bought bella + canvas t-shirt blanks (red and teal) from Michaels and already had white HTV (heat transfer vinyl) to cut and iron onto the shirts.
I found logos and labels then if I needed to edit out any part of the logo/label and add in my own text, I did this using pixlr E. This took a bit of work since it was difficult to find a heinz baked beans label that was high res enough, but I did like that I was able to find a similar heinz font so I could replace the word “Heinz” with “Hammonds”. The Sriracha label I got really lucky with because there was a high res file I was able to track down and there was minimal editing needed. However, the cut vinyl did take more time to weed since the rooster was so detailed. The overall result for both looked great, and the shirts have held up in the wash/dryer.
To finish the look, I bought hot sauce socks from Amazon, and paired with my Dr. Martens’ 1461 smooth leather platform shoes.
OH and got creative with a green doggy bag (that looked exactly like the same color as the nozzle of a sriracha bottle) that I fashioned into a bow. If I hadn’t rushed to get everything together, I would have gotten sriracha socks and either made a cap that looked like the bottle or worn a green beanie. Now I want to make a similar shirt for Lucky so we can match!
