Strawberry Soufflé Pancakes at Burnt Crumbs in Irvine, CA

Scott and I were looking for a new breakfast spot to try (that had outdoor seating and allowed dogs), so a quick search in Irvine led us to Burnt Crumbs in the Los Olivos Marketplace near the Irvine Spectrum. Starting as a food truck, Burnt Crumbs now has two physical locations, one in Irvine and one in Huntington Beach offering a modern, casual dining experience with a focus on handcrafted sandwiches. They just so happen to have a delectable-looking brunch menu as well (only at the Los Olivos Location), and when I saw that fluffy soufflé pancakes (available in original, blueberry and strawberry) were on the menu, I knew i had to seize the opportunity to try the dish.

The strawberry soufflé pancakes actually exceeded my expectations. Usually for sweet dishes like this, I can get over it pretty quickly, and since it came out covered with a sugary sweet looking light pink sauce, I was thinking it may be too sweet for me. But everything worked so well with the light, fluffy texture of the soufflé pancakes. I now understand what the hype is all about with these pancakes!! I finished the whole dish (which I rarely do when eating out or when what I’m eat looking very dense/doughy, unless I’m eating kid’s portions haha). I want to try a different flavor soufflé pancakes next time! Scott got the 2 Eggs any style - that is usually his go-to when we go out for breakfast/brunch. We will definitely be back, see the entire menu here.
