Custom Lipsticks at Lip Lab by Bite in Irvine and Coverage on Spectrum News 1 SoCal
Lip Lab by Bite opened earlier this summer in July, and I stopped in to create my own custom lipstick as apart of coverage for Spectrum News 1 SoCal with Kristen Lago for the “Pandemic Hits Beauty Industry Hard, Forcing Lip Lab to Adapt to New Normal” story.
This was actually one of the first times I had gone into a beauty/makeup type store where I got to test makeup and have interactive experience with a rep since OC’s shelter in place back in March. After watching the story, I can just tell I had not been out in public much, as I feel like I just didn’t even know what to say about my situation the last few months. It has really felt like a never-ending cycle of being at home, living the same day over and over again. So why would I have a reason to wear makeup right? I do have to say being able to come into Lip Lab for this personalized time was really a pick-me-up, and I like that I have something custom to my preferences.
So yes, I created my very own lipstick - from the finish and scent to the color formulation! I fittingly named it “The Year 2020…”. Originally was going to go with “Quaranqueen” but I wanted to remember exactly when this lipstick was made by having the year stamp on it. Watch the coverage below, and I also included a closer look at creating my pink/nude lipstick if you’ve ever been curious as to how a lipstick is creating in front of you.
As the story highlighted, Lip Lab has safety measures in place to ensure you can enjoy a worry-free, personalized experience to give yourself a beauty pick me up, or fun time with friends/fam (2-4 ppl)! safety measures included strategically scheduled shifts so that only 1 team member is in-store at a time, very limited capacity, masks/gloves, barriers up and hand sanitation. These measures in place did not take away from my experience at all, and I really enjoyed getting to create my own lipstick. You can too - Just book an appointment online.
We went through a couple iterations of color mixing before I tried on the lipstick outside (for more natural lighting). The color was spot on! Thank you to Josh for creating my new lip color which I named “This is 2020...” (it’s inscribed on the lipstick cap). I went for a warm, deep pinky-nude color with a tropical scent and matte finish.
