Anti-Racist Reading from Target
The anti-racist reading book club I’m apart of is starting up with the second book in a couple of weeks. Although I’ve had some notice to get the book (So You Want to Talk About Race), many of the independent and Black-owned bookstores I looked at are sold out, back ordered or are faced with shipping delays due to COVID-19 (and the whole situation with the USPS and U.S. Postmaster General isn’t helping). I didn’t want to not be able to get the book in time (as I do like to read from physical books AND I also looked at my public library for options but a majority of anti-racist books are checked out - which is great!).
While I was searching for the book, listings came up for Target so I checked it out and they had many of the anti-racist books available (on sale! if your budget is tight in general due to current circumstances). I ended up purchasing quite a few and I wanted to share the books I ordered. If you’ve read any of these and have feedback, input or insight I’d love to know what you think, as well as other book recommendations - please leave them in the comments for me! I also wanted to note that while reading these books and reading in general can be incredibly eye-opening and insightful, for my purposes of doing anti-racism work, reading these books are supplementary. How we can create change is by taking action and I look forward to sharing more of my journey on how we can all do the work together to dismantle white supremacy and racism.
