Five Anti-Racist Actions to Take this Week - November

In a historic election, with record-breaking turnout by Black, Indigenous, and women of color, we are seeing white supremacy in plain view--from armed white supremacists in rallies to white progressives trying to claim credit for victories in key states like Georgia and Arizona.1,2,3

As people who are committed to an anti-racist future, we know better. We know who really delivered votes in Georgia and Arizona, and for a fraction of the resources that larger, white-led institutions typically enjoy.4 Please join us in spreading love and appreciation to leaders like Stacey Abrams, Nse Ufot, and Black organizers in Georgia, and to the Indigenous organizers who turned out the vote in Arizona--including on horseback!5,6 

Right now, help propel forward our movement for justice and an anti-racist future by taking one or all of the following five anti-racist actions:

Support the protection of voting rights in Georgia. Stacey Abrams, an attorney, entrepreneur, author, and elected Georgia representative who made history as the nation's first Black woman gubernatorial candidate of a major political party, has been an outspoken and effective leader for voting rights.7 Please consider making a donation to her organization, Fair Fight. 

Support The New Georgia Project. The New Georgia Project was critical in registering and turning out a historic number of voters between the ages of 18 to 29, people of color, and unmarried women.8 Please help the organization continue its critical work by either donating to the organization directly or purchasing an item on its Amazon wishlist. 

Support Native American law students in Arizona. Native Americans in Arizona were prohibited from voting as late as 1970, when English literacy tests were finally outlawed.9 A lot of the litigation and voter protection efforts came from Arizona State University's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, which spearheaded the Arizona Native Vote Election Protection Project--critical to turning out the Native vote in Arizona this election!--and the Indian legal clinic.10 Help continue this critical work in Indian Country by contributing to the law school's scholarship fund for Native students.

Join us this Saturday. UltraViolet is teaming up with Women's March, BlackOUT Collective, Planned Parenthood, and more to co-host a national virtual rally this Saturday, November 14, at 3 p.m. ET. We will celebrate our victories at the polls and present our People's Agenda for a future that centers gender, racial, and economic justice. 

Sign the Movement for Black Lives' petition for COVID-19 relief. The Movement for Black Lives is calling on congressional leadership to pass COVID-19 relief that prioritizes Black communities over corporations and does not rely on the militarization of communities of color as a response to the pandemic.
