Vote Early Day - How You Can Turn Up and Vote Early!
Today is Vote Early Day and I wanted to share that I had submitted my ballot earlier this week. To ensure that your ballot and vote will be counted, I highly encourage you to vote early! When I had dropped off my ballot this past Tuesday, it was reported that as of Monday 10/19 afternoon, the U.S. Elections Project published “that just under 30 million Americans have already cast their ballots in the states that report such data” and that “numbers were tracking far above what they were during the same period in the 2016 election cycle.”
The site is maintained by University of Florida political science professor Michael McDonald who notes that “Again, the headline is that early voting continues at a record pace, with at least 27.9 million people who have voted in the 2020 general election,” and “Four years ago, at a comparable point in time, I was tracking 5.9 million votes.” (Fast Company)
Although Election Day is only 10 days away, there’s still time to create a voting plan to vote on the day of or vote early. Vote Early Day is a great resource to get started if you haven’t looked into voting yet. You can check out my full post on being vote ready here, or check out how to get started through Vote Early Day by your state. If you’ve already submitted your mail-in ballot (whether you mailed it back or dropped in an official drop box), you can check the status here.
About Vote Early Day
Vote Early Day is a movement of nonprofits, businesses, election administrators, and creatives working to ensure all Americans know their options to vote early.
When Americans vote early, they ensure that last minute problems will not prevent them from casting their ballots – and help shorten voting lines on Election Day for everyone. But voting early rules – both for in-person and by-mail options – vary widely all over the country, causing confusion and preventing voters from casting their ballots. We’re here to make voting early easier. Given our current conditions with COVID-19, having multiple options to safely cast your ballot is critical.
Vote Early Day is a collaboration among media companies, nonprofits, technology platforms, election administrators, influencers, and other businesses to help all eligible voters learn about their early voting options and celebrate the act of voting early. This collaborative, open-source model - similar to Giving Tuesday and National Voter Registration Day - will ensure that millions more Americans take advantage of their options to vote early.
