Black Swan Halloween Costume DIY
For Halloween last year, I created a version of a Black Swan costume inspired by the movie. For my own costume however, I wanted to do a half black and half white swan to show the difference. In this post, I’ll share the materials I used and the video explains more about how I crafted the tutu costume and put together the whole look (which I actually won first prize with for my company’s Halloween costume contest). What You Need - Tutu & Accessories
White Tutu (If you’re doing the Half and Half Costume - if not get an all black tutu for just the black swan costume) Other tutu options here and here.
White Camisole Leotard (make sure when painting this, you place cardboard or some kind of barrier inside the leotard)
White Feathered Hairpiece (I didn’t have time to make one, so I purchased one)
Hot Glue Gun & Black or Gunmetal Colored Gluesticks
Ballet Flats or Pointe Shoes (if you’re really wanting to try to go authentic, although I don’t think it’s worth it to buy a new pair of pointe shoes to paint black, thankfully I had a pair of old pointe shoes I could use) with Black Satin Ribbon
Crown Making & Tutu Bodice Tutorial - I couldn’t find a good enough template, but essentially, you could print out an image of the crown from the movie and makes sure to fill in the crown template with glue
What You Need - Makeup
Use your own makeup that you typically use for full face makeup
Use your fave dark red/burgundy and pink/neutral colored lip products
This is a great makeup tutorial to follow.
