WB Making of Harry Potter Studio Tour London 2019

While in England visiting Scott’s family, we all took a trip together up to Watford (approximately 1 hour north of Central London) to experience Warner Bros. Studio Tour - The Making of Harry Potter. I knew that I was going to get to tour sets from the Harry Potter films, but didn’t realize how absolutely awe striking the entire experience would be. We kicked off our tour with a walk through the Great Hall at Hogwarts, then got to see all sorts of items from original costuming (wardrobe & wigs), special effects (like how they make fake snow and fire), tons and tons of authentic props, and actual sets themselves. I’m all about everything movie magic and how movies are made so I literally was like a kid in a candy store.

We got to learn about development to execution of many aspects of the film and walked through or peeked into sets like the Gryffindor Common Room, Dumbledore’s Office, Hagrid’s House, the Forbidden Forest and more - it’s truly all an incredible sight. Guests even have a chance to film and take photographs on a broomstick as if they’re flying around and can also take direction and film a scene on a train. We even made a pit stop for some butter beer before walking on the Wooden Bridge to Hogwarts Castle. I loved seeing how characters would be developed from sketches to an animatronics prop or a prosthetic mask for an actor to wear; as well as how models of structures like Hogwarts Castle was created and filmed for the sprawling scenes of the castle.
