Fresh, Made to Order Dog Food by The Farmer's Dog

The Farmer’s Dog, a fresh dog food delivery service creating natural, personalized meals for your beloved pup, is the best thing to happen to my maltipoo Lucky! Why is this important? Because just like how our bodies are influenced by what we ingest, so are our dog’s. I want Lucky to live the longest and healthiest life possible, and that starts with his diet. I was fortunate enough to be gifted this fresh food service with 2 weeks worth of food., see what Lucky thought below.

What Makes the Farmer’s Dog different?

Tested on humans

Human-grade USDA ingredients means less processing, natural nutrients, and higher safety standards. Things we believe every pet deserves.

Personalized, Ready-to-serve

The meal plan is customized to your dog’s individual profile. Easy ready-to-serve meals are pre-made and pre-portioned. Just open and pour into the dog bowl.

Made fresh and delivered

Your food is delivered to you within days of cooking. Food is cooked at low temps according to USDA-facility standards, then quickly frozen but never deep frozen. The food doesn’t contain preservatives like kibble does.

Planet in Mind

What really caught my attention alongside how fresh the food is, is how mindful the packaging is. The box is recyclable, the insulation is biodegradable and can actually be dissolved in water.

ABOUT THE FARMER’S DOG

The Farmer's Dog. Inspired by co-founder Brett Podolsky's experience switching his dog to a fresh diet made with real food (not burnt brown balls of kibble), The Farmer's Dog makes and delivers fresh, personalized food directly to your door. We know you'll never want to go back to highly processed, shelf-stable pet food again once you feed your pup food that looks and smells like actual food. (Recent press: Vogue and Business Insider)

Our mission is to make it incredibly convenient for pet owners to feed their dogs fresh food. Why? Because it can seriously improve our dogs' health and quality of life. In addition to helping with allergies, weight, stomach issues, breath, and skin, studies show that adding fresh food to your dog's diet can reduce the risks of developing certain cancers by 90%.

Lucky’s Reaction to the Farmer’s Dog Fresh Food

This is Lucky’s first time trying fresh food, and also I haven’t done a food change with him before. There was a helpful feeding guide on how to portion the food for Lucky, as well as some tips on getting him acclimated to the food. At the beginning I may have put too much fresh food on top of his kibble, and he didn’t like it at all. So it took a bit of time to get adjusted to (which I think may have been because he wasn’t used to the temp change to the food being cold since I was pulling it out of the fridge before serving), but in the end he ended up going crazy for the food when it was solely fresh food.

Overall, I felt the service was good, Lucky didn’t have any adverse reactions to the food and the service has competitive pricing (and I do like the convenience of the delivery to my home). Plans start at $2/day (includes free shipping), and will depend on your dog and its needs.

Amanda was given a two week trial to test/use the food service with her dog to share her experience and an offer/promotion on social media - all opinions expressed are of her own.
