I'm so excited to share a video and photos from my visit to The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, CA during a media event a couple weekends ago. This year, the fields are open to the public for a total of 10 weeks, 9am-6pm daily and closing in May.

If you're able to go during the week, I would expect that it would be less crowded then during the weekend. But if you decide or are only able to visit over the weekend, try to get to the Flower Fields right before it opens, and also buy your tickets in advance to avoid the ticket queue. Over the weekend there are many offerings like food vendors, an artisanal market and live music. The Flower Fields also provides educational programming, volunteer opportunities, a venue space for special events and workshops.

Jen and I got to ride the antique wagon tractor around the fields, get dropped off to take photos, then transported back to the entrance of the fields. This is a great option if you want to see the entire field and not have to walk up the hillside to access the rows of ranunculus flowers. If you're planning on visiting, here are a few more tips:

Wear sunscreen or sun protective wear
If you are going to be walking up the hillsides, wear comfortable shoes
Photography is permitted, but professional equipment needs prior approval
By arriving early, you can also avoid a queue for the tractor ride if that is something you want to experience
Come with friends, family, anyone! It's a beautiful place to visit
