Brunch at Fig & Olive Newport Beach
Fig & Olive holds a very special place in my heart. I had the pleasure of getting to attend the Newport Beach / Fashion Island grand opening parties, celebrate family occasions, and enjoy a spring 2015 menu tasting, as well as a La Roche Posay event (at the Melrose location). This time, Jen and I dined at Fig & Olive for a weekend brunch! We kicked off our brunch with Bellini and Blood Orange Mimosa drinks, and shared the Burrata, Goat Cheese and Prosciutto crositinis, you can choose any 3 or 6 crotinis which make for a great starter to any meal.
Next we shared the Tuffle Fries and Sea Scallops which are lightly seared and plated with honey roasted carrots, orange segment, citrus and charmoula. For our entrees, we had the French Omelette and the Penne Funghi; the omelette was the perfect portion but I was already full from the appetizers that I unfortunately could not finish the potatoes and salad. Jen's Penne Funghi was probably one of my favorite pasta dishes I had ever tasted, the truffle oil is magic!
We decided to finish our meal with the Chestnut Mousse & Amarena Cherry dessert accompanied by lattes. The nutty chestnut mousse perfectly complemented the sweet and tart flavors of the cherry sorbet and syrup. If you're looking for a brunch spot, come to Fig & Olive Newport Beach with family, girlfriends or loved ones and enjoy the most delicious, exquisite dishes in a beautiful and upscale setting.
