My First Brazilian Waxing at Lunchbox Waxing in Costa Mesa, CA
I had the pleasure of getting to stop in at Lunchbox Waxing in Costa Mesa for a few waxing services before heading out to Palm Springs for my birthday weekend. I actually had my brows waxed a week or so prior by Nicole of Lunchbox while attending a pamper event at Facial Works (located down the street). I liked how my newly groomed brows turned out so much that when Lunchbox asked me to come in for waxing services, I had to come in to get the full experience.
I was in dire need of an upper lip wax (and I usually don't touch that area in fear that it will get irritated, but since I was very satisfied with Nicole's work, I was open to having Lunchbox wax my upper lip) and I also selected my toes to be waxed because, let's be honest, if you have hair growing there it is very tiresome to have to shave each toe. I was encouraged to have another area waxed and yes, of course I thought well a 'Brazilian wax' is very popular and would be perfect to get me into bikini wearing shape, but I had never gotten a Brazilian wax done before and was a little terrified. So, I opted for a bikini line wax to get started - if I felt comfortable, then maybe go all the way!
I was coming from a hair appointment that ran late and the Lunchbox staff was very accommodating and able to move my appointment to a later time. As well, when I arrived the Lunchbox ladies along with owner Angela, were hosting an event to promote Friends with Benefits, an unlimited waxing program (price is based by wax area); I was poured a prosecco and whisked away to my room for my waxing services (yes, I had decided that I would go for the full Brazilian waxing) by waxologist Nicole.
The waxing room is clean and I like the elements of the Lunchbox logo throughout the space. Nicole started with my upper lip, then toes and ended with the Brazilian and it all took about 30 minutes for everything (time varies by the services you receive and the amount of hair that needs to be removed in each area). For the Brazilian in particular, she had provided me with a cover up sheet and a feminine towelette to freshen up. I was instructed to undress from the waist down, then cover up with the sheet. She had me lay down on my back and started on one side by keeping one leg straight and bending the other leg into a position like the 'butterfly stretch', then repeated on the other side and ended with both legs in the 'butterfly stretch' position. Nicole was really great with keep my distracted with conversation as she waxed my lady parts. Ultimately, yes it was painful but I also had never had that area waxed before and the process went by fairly quick and afterwards...smooth as a baby's bum.
To finish my waxing experience, Nicole instructed me on how to take care of my freshly waxed skin with Lunchbox products that are fragrance and color-free, and are a great blend of organic ingredients. And I was also very surprised at how there was almost no redness or visual signs on my face that I had gotten an upper lip wax after I left the waxing room.
Fast forward approximately 3 weeks from my waxing services and (although my hair is starting to grow back) with the use of the the BOX products, my skin was never irritated post-waxing and I didn't develop any pesky ingrown hairs. I highly suggest stopping in Lunchbox Waxing Salon in Costa Mesa for all of your waxing needs; the staff is friendly, the space is beautiful, and the pricing is incredible (Lip $12, Brows $12, Brazilian $55)!!
