Visiting the Arc de Triomphe & Eiffel Tower in Paris, France

While visiting England with Scott, we planned a couple other countries to visit during our travels; one of them being France. Scott was a bit hesitant about going to France as he did not have the best of experiences in past trips; however he had never been to Paris and this would be a great opportunity for the both of us to experience it together.

On our first day in Paris, we took the train in from Charles de Gaulle airport and dropped off our luggage at the Mercure Paris Saint Lazare Monceau Hotel since we arrived around 12pm and couldn't check in until 3pm. To kill time we just wandered around the streets of Paris and stumbled upon the Moulin Rouge; then hopped on the metro to visit the Arc de Triomphe. We perused a few shops on the Avenue des Champs Élysées before making it down to the Arc de Triomphe to take pictures. Afterwards, I grabbed a sandwich and enjoyed it while making our way back to the hotel to check in and get settled.

In the evening, Scott and I took the metro over to the Eiffel Tower and snapped some photos while the sun set. We grabbed dinner at a nearby restaurant and were able to catch the Eiffel Tower all lit up in sparkling lights. The tower puts on a series of light shows between sundown and 1 am every hour on the hour, so I am so very glad we walked by the Eiffel Tower just as the light show started, as it was quite magical.

For being as tired as I was from traveling earlier in the morning (as well as recovering from being sick in England), I think Scott and I did quite well for getting to sight see on the first day, Next I'll share our visit to the Louvre Museum!
