Anne Fontaine SS16 Collection Runway Show at South Coast Plaza

Anne Fontaine presented a SS16 collection of black and white pieces in flowing, structured, and printed patterns and silhouettes at South Coast Plaza a few weeks ago. Anne Fontaine herself attended the show and walked with her models during the flood. This is the first time I've seen Anne Fontaine pieces in person, and each piece exuded a sense of timelessness with a modern touch. Anne Fontaine is known for its iconic WHITE SHIRT, and remixed white shirt styles of voluminous sleeves, a-line silhouettes, cut-outs and textures like ruffles and bows graced the runway.
I liked the leather elements, but took a particular fancy to the cape designs and flowy sleeve pieces. There's definitely a Parisian flair to each style, which is reflective of designer Anne Fontaine's studies and time in France. Fontaine has been designing since 1993, and started when she discovered an old trunk filled with white shirts. Shop the Spring Summer 16 collection here.

ABOUT THE SS16 COLLECTION
This collection draws direct influence from nature’s most muted and awe-inspiring elements through a mix of linen and graphic materials. These materials include netting, patterns of smoke, as well as embroidery and lace in geometric motifs. This influence is also shown within the addition of leather in an openwork effect which provides an organic aesthetic.
