Beauty Classes at Sephora Pacific City, Hungtington Beach

I don't think I've ever been to any kind of makeup/beauty tutorial class, and I had the great pleasure of attending the recently opened Sephora at Pacific City in Huntington Beach for a perfectly paired lip & cheek class.

After grabbing a couple breakfast treats from Pie-Not and a coffee and mimosa, I was escorted to a tablet for COLOR IQ in which my face is photographed in three different areas to have my skin color matched. Wait, hold up, what?! I think I must have been living under a rock because all this time I've been having difficulty trying to match my skin color to find out what shade of foundation to buy for various brands, and now Sephora can do it for you!

This color matching service is in partnership with PANTONE; you are given recommendations on foundation and concealer products that are the best fit for your skin tone. Best part is when you are a Beauty Insider, your color matching info is sent to your inbox so you can refer back to it to help with shopping.

I wanted to try a berry lip and complementing blush for the class, so was given a Sephora Collection Matte Lip Stain in Blackberry Sorbet, Makeup Forever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lip Liner Pencil in Matte Raspberry, Makeup Forever Ultra HD Concealer, and Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Dazzled. Fully equipped, I was ready to learn how to master my lip and blush makeup application to create a perfect pout and rosy cheeks. Our class was taught by Dre, and she was so great taking us step by step and making sure we understood each instruction before moving forward. She also had a spectacular team supporting her and us influencers in our makeup application process.

PREP | PRIME | LINE

Before applying any lip color, we had to prep our lips and did so using a lip scrub to exfoliate our lips. We applied BITE Beauty 's Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub; it's so dang good smelling and felt nice to be able to easily remove dead skin from my lips.
To prime our lips, we used Fresh's Sugar Lip Serum Advanced Therapy; this is great for post exfoliation of the lips and to prepare for the lips for makeup application because it not only nourishes the lips but also smooths fine lines for fuller, more supple lips.
Onto lip liner to map out the lips for lip stain/stick application. We started by outlining just at the cupid's bow which creates the top of a heart shape. We created an 'X' by extending the lines of our cupid's bow through the top center (where the curves of the top of the heart shape would come to a point in the middle) of our upper lip. Then added a small line at the center bottom of my lower lip. Next we connected the lines to outline the entire lip. After outlining was finish, we had the option to fill in the lips or not, depending on if you want the lip liner color underneath.

LAYER & PERFECT

I applied my lip stain; and a coat of gloss can be added if desired, however I wanted to keep my lips looking matte, so no gloss for me! To clean up the lip color, I used concealer and a concealer brush to apply along the lip line, then blended out the concealer away from my lips.

APPLY BLUSH

For cheeks, we chose from 4 different blush application looks. I decided to go for a romantic look since I had already contoured my face. That means I just add the blush to the apples of my cheeks.

And voila, finished with my lip and cheeks! This Sephora Beauty Class was seriously too much fun, and I enjoyed the take away of knowing how to apply lip color and blush much better.
