Travel Photo Diary - Vũng Tàu, Vietnam

While visiting Vietnam for the first time a couple summers ago, I got the chance to visit my paternal Grandfather's village of Phước Hải, located on the south eastern coast of Vietnam. We ended up staying at a small coastal resort right by the beach, and although it wasn't the best beach weather, I still had a fun time taking in the ocean air (and the mosquitoes enjoyed feasting on me as I had forgotten to close my hotel windows while napping). It was interesting to experience the tourist culture in which the locals constantly try to sell live crabs and seafood (and anything else they can think of) to my grandfather and I. On our way back to Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), we drove along the coastline and I was enthralled to see houses covered in drying fish, and also visited sites like the whale temple and caught a glimpse of the Christ statue on the hill (Tuong Dai Chua Kito Vua). While stopping to snap some photos by the water, my family bartered with a nearby fruit peddler, whom I might add was extremely prepared for making transactions by having a scale and yummy looking fruit; I'm always down for a snack for the road!
