Wavy Medium-Length Hairstyle with Ombre Hair

This haircut was much needed after 9 months of letting my hair grow out. The last time I received a trim, I had also had my hair dyed blue. I have come to find that coloring my hair has been a great form of creative expression for me. My first run in with 'fashion' color dye was when I used a box dye kit to bleach and dye my own hair purple for a dip dye effect. I can't believe how long my hair was when I dyed the ends for the first time; since then, I've had my hair cut significantly shorter, the ends bleached/toned 3 times and had blue and pink strips, blue ombre and a magenta/purple ombre.

I was set on going for a dramatic cut, so I entrusted Dee from Swell Beauty (whom has done my makeup and my hair countless times) with the task. She created this mid-length cut which instantly brightened up my face and gave me a fresh look. The lob, long bob, was the hottest hair trend for 2015 and it's going strong entering Spring 2016; I was very inspired by various celebs rockin the look.

My reservations with cutting my hair so short, or at least shorter than I'm used to is having to style it. When I had it cut short previously, the length was hard to maintain because I would get extreme bed head and not be able to tame it without intense styling. I was accustomed to having long hair that I could just throw back into a bun or up into a top knot. As well, if I had slept with my hair in a bun, the next morning I would have wavy hair. This was not the case for short hair. Knowing that going into this hair cut, I've just made more of a conscious effort to blow dry my hair straight or wave/curl it as well as use product to help with frizz or unruliness. What do you think of the new look, have you made a dramatic change or are planning to?
