William Bradley SS15 Collection at LA Fashion Council, Maker City LA
Design duo Brad Parnell and Rodney Jones of the William Bradley Collection showed their latest collection at LA Fashion Council's SS15 Collections showings last week at Maker City LA. The brand has roots in Alabama and is now based out of Los Angeles with a mission to provide detail-oriented women with the perfect wardrobe of the utmost sophistication and yields confidence from every WB clad lady; the brand offers "the ideal juxtaposition of American design and European sensabilites".
The collection had a note of conservativeness with high collars, long sleeves and hemlines, but also an edginess and ease with the moto jackets, leather elements, bold patterns, fabric paneling, and intricate details. The tailoring was impeccable, and I enjoyed seeing unexpected layering and textures, and how certain patterns or elements would carry from one piece to another. The bright pink and blue swipes of color on white print was reminiscent of the colorful 80s era, but still embodied a sense of elegance and poise with the construction and shape of the garments. Read more about the inspiration behind the collection bellow:
"The Metropolitan Museum of Art held the beginnings of what would become the sole inspiration for our Spring | Summer 2015 collection. While on vacation in New York City, I observed Pablo Picasso's 'The Blind Man's Meal' for the first time. There was an instant connection with the painting and I knew it would have an impact on the next season. The painting evoked such a powerful message of strength, and that's exactly what the William Bradley customer represents. In a piece saturated with dark shades of blue, Picasso drew saddened attention to the man's hands and ears while leaving his eyes dark. Pondering the question of what the blind man might actually see behind those dark eyes, we painted a refreshing pallet for spring. You can expect custom prints with flourishes of color and delicate silks that melt in your hands. Feast your eyes, as we share with Los Angeles for the first time, 'The Blind Man's Blessing'".
