Visiting Family in Phước Hải, Vietnam

After a few busy days in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), my grandparents rented a van and we went along with my two aunts and family friend (whom we were staying with) a couple hours north to the commune of Phước Hải. I got to meet family on my grandpa's side that my mom and brothers had never met before, as well as visit the family plot in which many of my ancestors were laid to rest. I prayed along with my grandparents, leaving incense at each tomb; chased the neighborhood chickens; then went back to our family friend's second home (we are staying at her other home when in Saigon) nearby for lunch. Something that I learned while over in Vietnam is that the locals love their fruits! Fruits before and after we eat a meal, fruits for breakfast, fruits for a snack; and there are so many different types of exotic fruits too! I liked that many of the fruits were grown at home, like the green mangoes hanging from the tree outside the house that I got to pull down then eat! And if it's not grown at home, then the local street market should suffice. A full day of traveling around to meet family and tons of eating tired me out, so I spent the rest of the afternoon lounging in the hammock.
