Microdermabrasion at Skin Renaissance Med Spa in Garden Grove, CA
My good friend Dana works at Skin Renaissance Medical Spa in Garden Grove, CA and suggested that I come in for a skincare treatment such as microdermabrasion or laser hair removal. Being that I do not usually undergo any kind of skincare treatments (my last facial was 8 years ago), I opted for the microdermabrasion which Dana noted is a simple, non-invasive procedure to remove the top dead layer of skin. Although when I decided that I was going to get this micro service, I really had no clue as to how it was going to be conducted, I just knew my face was going to be involved. But hey, I am up for anything that will leave my skin looking radiant and rejuvenated!
I arrived bare-faced during my break between teaching dance classes, and Dana introduced me to the lovely office manager Michelle and nurse Jane. The entire staff was so welcoming and informative; I was taken into another room where Jane explained the procedure while my face was exposed to steam. I was under the impression that micro was going to be a bit daunting (even with the prior notice that it was going to be easy and pain-free) since when I received a facial (8 years ago) the service had left my face quite raw. But Jane's humor first off kept me at ease, she explained everything so well, answering any questions that I had, and the entire procedure was finished after a mere 20 minutes. Jane instructed that I may have post-microdermabrasion break out, but how to care for my skin as well as products that I could use (available for purchase) that would help take care of my acne scars and skin discoloring. I am excited to start using the facial products the next time I come in for another microdermabrasion, which will be in a week and a half!

After having cleaned out some clogged pores, Jane proceeded to use a DiamondTome tip abrasive tool that suctions as it is applied to the face. The first 'pass' is done in one direction and subsequent 'passes' cross the original direction. The objective is to mechanically remove the top dead layer of skin, allowing healthy skin cells to be revealed.
If there are any problem areas, they can be revisited during micro. Some patients have a small breakout after the micro, but it's generally short and the skin that is left behind is radiant and healthy. I fortunately did not breakout after micro, and just skipped right to the awesome results--radiant and healthy skin. I actually noticed a significant difference in my skin; improved complexion that was taut and clear. Michelle suggested that I have a micro done every 2 weeks, so that's what I'm going to do along with using new products! I can't wait to show and write about my improved skin!
