San Jose to San Francisco
Following Brian & Kaisa's wedding, I drove onward to San Jose to stay with my friends Jake & Tobi for the weekend. We started off the day at their fave breakfast spot, Bill's Cafe; which boasts classic breakfast traditions as well as cocktails like the best Bloody Marys and Mimosas, so of course we had to order both! Next was a rendezvous with Lauren of L.A. in the Bay at the De Anza Flea Market. This flea market was reminiscent of the OC Market Place, except it was a bit unorganized, or at least it was just difficult to navigate. Regardless, we still had fun walking up and down the aisles of merchandise and goods; I left with a turquoise beaded bracelet, and 4 cool tone nail polishes. I was glad I hadn't spent too much money at the flea market, because our next stop was San Francisco!
Jake drove us to the City and we parked at Union Square so that we could hop on the next City Sightseeing bus. This double decker bus, aside from the tour guide's humorous and witty commentary; proved to be most useful for our brief 1 day trip in San Fran. For only $20/person (normally $24.99/person), we were able to see/experience the touristy sights in a short amount of time by utilizing the hop on hop off service. We first stopped in City Hall; got off at Chinatown and had a 'family-style' lunch @ Hong Kong Clay Pot; walked around North Beach; hopped back on the bus to check out Pier 39; then back to Union Square.
We ended our SF day trip by visiting the Golden Gate bridge, and taking a few quick snapshots since it was so windy! Our evening ended with a movie and pizza! Always such a pleasure to hang out with Jake and Tobi, and I can't wait to see them on my next Nor Cal visit!
