Attending the 62nd Annual Long Beach Greek Festival and Cultural Event
During my labor day weekend, I went up to Long Beach to see my very dear friend Ariel. We both were starving by the time I got to her house, so we decided on In-N-Out burgers for dinner. On our way, Ariel received a phone call to attend a Greek festival (62nd Annual Long Beach Greek Festival & Cultural Event) down the street...we gladly accepted the invitation. We were instantly greeted with an energetic atmosphere and sweet & savory aromas in the air. We went straight for the gyro tent and bought 2 lamb gyros, which we quickly ate. We then picked up (one of my fave desserts) Loukoumades...golden puffs of fried dough drenched in honey and sprinkled with cinnamon and walnuts. Mm Mm Good. Ariel's friends showed up just in time to enjoy some midway fun, and the couple dollars spent was well worth our while since we ended up winning TWO goldfish! Okay, I know they are only worth a few cents, but...playing the game was still fun! We didn't make it to the dance floor on time to learn how to Greek dance, but it was fun to see everyone enjoying themselves, dancing to the upbeat live music while we walked around. All in all, it was too much fun, and we will definitely be coming back next year!OPA!
