Inside the Forbidden City Beijing -Travel Photo Diary

It's been awhile since I posted on my trip to China, so thought I would share my visit to the Forbidden City in Beijing! The tour through the Forbidden City was like a step back in time (minus the other tourists), and definitely reminded me of the movieThe Last Emperor (which my tour guide said was actually filmed in the Forbidden City).

The view of the gigantic courtyard was absolutely breathtaking, and I tried to imagine what it would be like when the Emperor and his court inhabited the very ground that I was walking on. Every statue, key hole, door handle, and rooftop was just so ornate, and a great way to see and experience a piece of history. I believe everything that I saw was in it's most original form, nothing has been re-built, but has been restored. I still can not fathom that I walked through the very vast majestic buildings and saw the throne and common areas in which royalty lived in.

After walking through the multiple buildings, we reached the garden which was filled with these awe-striking natural rock formations with tree branches that wove in and out of the formations. A must-see destination when visiting Beijing!
