Visiting Tian'anmen- Travel Photo Diary
Here’s a look at our journey through Qianmen Street, South-Facing Gate, Tian'anmen Square & Tian'anmen(Gate of Heavenly Place)
For day one of the Beijing Tour, our tour guide picked us up from the hotel at 8:30am. We then faced morning traffic, which was seriously 10x worse than California peak traffic. We were dropped off at Qianmen Street, just south of Tian'anmen Square where we walked down a long passage of shops, then reached the south-facing gate which separated Qianmen and Tian'anmen square. I was bummed that we didn't get a chance to stop in any of the shops because of our tight tour schedule, but if it meant that I got to see more historical sites, then I was willing to make that sacrifice.
After walking to the end of the Qianmen, we were picked up and dropped off again at the square; took a stroll around, pick up some snacks, snapped a couple pictures, then went into an underground walkway to get to Tian'anmen, the Gate of Heavenly Place, which is the main entrance of the Forbidden City! Everything was just so massive up close, somewhat surreal I would say, just because I never thought I would be standing in and in front of such iconic places!Up next...the Forbidden City and Emperor's Summer Palace!
